Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells Review

November 6th, 2012 No comments

If you’re looking at the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells for the first time you’re probably thinking how weird they look.  The proof of the pudding as they say and the bottom line is they work!

Each dumbbell adjusts from the minimum weight of 5lbs all the way up to 52-1/2 lbs. That means you can do a quick change from one exercise to the next all with a simple turn of the dial.

If you have limited storage space the SelectTech 552’s are ideal – they take up only a small amount of room and reduce dangerous clutter to a minimum.

No rack required – why have 30 dumbbells when you only need 2? Ingenious.

One of the big advantages of the SelectTechs is that with P90X you can select smaller weight increments and make those changes. With the SelectTechs, you can start with 17.5lbs, go up to 20lbs, then 22.5lbs, and finally to 25lbs.

With triceps exercises these smaller increments are really useful. With P90X exercises you have less than 30 seconds to set up for the next exercise and with the SelectTech 552’s system it takes less than 10 seconds!

All I can say is Wow! These are such a great idea. Turn the dial to select the weight you want and the SelectTech locks in the plates needed.  Adjust the weight up or down by replacing them in the base plate and turning the dial again. It’s so simple.

Everything’s designed to be safe, compact and easy.

I stow the two under my bench when I’m done – no more picking up 30 different dumbbells and having to stack them on a rack out of the way.  A brilliant idea that everyone that’s seen mine love.

Bottom Line:

For safety and their compactness the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells are a fantastic idea – and they’re comfortable, durable and easy to use.

Follow the instructions carefully, arm yourself with a couple of wrenches and putting this together is a breeze and doesn’t take long at all.
