Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike Review

December 17th, 2012 No comments

The Schwinn 240 recumbent exercise bike is made by a name we all know and trust. For a company that produced one of the finest bikes, it was obviously a natural progression for them to move into the field of exercise bikes. They’re doing well too. All their upright exercise bikes are built of sturdy materials and are adjustable and ergonomically designed for the feel of a “real” bike ride.

If you’re worried about purchasing a recumbent exercise bike rather than an upright it’s probably because you’re worried about your back and neck.  A recumbent bike can actually be much kinder to your back because they have excellent lumbar support. You can also target more muscle groups with an incumbent.

Everything on the Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike is built for ease of use, comfort and ergonomics. And the seat, handlebars and console are fully adjustable so you enjoy the best exercise experience.

The Schwinn 240 has a 20-pound flywheel offering 16 easily adjustable levels of resistance and includes 17 workout programs, 8 course profiles and heart monitoring through the handlebars. Watch your progress on the Backlit, multi-color console to see how many calories you’ve burned, your level of resistance, time spent and distance traveled.

If you can’t afford a top-of-the-line recumbent exercise bike you’ll get the same exact workout and you can save hundreds of dollars.

Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike User Review

If you love cycling but not in the rain or you can’t cycle because the roads are just too darned dangerous, then you will really love the Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike.

It definitely goes head to head with other more commercial exercise bikes. I was considering a Precor but at nearly $3000 I decided it was just too far out of my price range.

I did a lot of research trying to find just which recumbent bike would do as well and I have to admit I was influenced by the Schwinn name.  I was never disappointed with my Schwinn road bike (until someone stole it) and the Schwinn 240 is proving to be just as comfortable and reliable.  All the different levels of resistance and the various built in programs are great. I use a different one every day and I can say I am definitely fitter and feel a lot healthier and stronger.

It took nearly a whole day for my husband to put the Schwinn 240 together for me.  We don’t call him Speedy for nothing! But when he’d finished I knew straight away this was going to become one of my favorite things.

Now if only I could get his butt off the couch and onto it!

Bottom Line

The Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike is an excellent machine that rivals other commercial quality machines which cost many times more – and you’ll get the same results.

Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike Review

What advantages would I have by purchasing a Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike over one of their upright exercise bikes?  This is a question that many folks ask. They want to exercise, but many worry about the strain placed on their back and/or neck.

Of course upright cycling has many great healthful advantages, so why are recumbent bikes becoming so much more popular with health clubs and home users? The answer is they are easier on the back and neck. They may look uncomfortable but they’re not.

Take the Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike. It has excellent lumbar and neck support, which in short means you can exercise longer and come away without a nagging backache.  The only pain you might feel is some tightness and burn to all the muscle groups you’ve been using.

With the Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike you won’t be hunched over the handlebars, instead you’ll be firmly supported by the padded bucket seat and you’re usually a lot lower to the ground which can add stability. With your legs and ankles being raised higher there is less pressure or impact on them as well. You’re not tempted to stand on the pedals either, which can be pretty bad for those lower joints.

Exercise no longer needs to be a painful chore. The Schwinn 250 has been ergonomically designed and is adjustable to fit most people’s needs.

The Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike is also suited to all fitness levels. You can start out by following one of the Schwinn’s 17 preset programs and adjust your levels of resistance up as you progress.

You’ll be able to watch your heart, and your progress through the large black backlit LCD window. Check how many miles you’ve ridden, how long you’ve been riding and even the amount of calories you’ve burned.

The affordable Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike has dozens of other features you’ll love including Schwinn Advantage™ workout tracking

All backed by a great warranty and a name we all know and trust.

Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike User Review

I was very excited to receive my Schwinn Recumbent Exercise bike. I just wish it had arrived fully-assembled Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike reviewbecause I had to wait a few days to get help building it.  I wasn’t going to risk putting it together wrong and it not working afterwards. Besides the only tool we own is a hammer!

The whole family loves it and I can hardly get the kids away from it especially since they can plug their MP3s into it.

I’ve never owned a recumbent before and I’m really glad I got one. I was in a car accident and still get back pain but this doesn’t aggravate it at all.

Bottom Line

The Schwinn 250 Recumbent Exercise Bike is a well made, comfortable machine with all the bells and whistles you’ll need to get into – and stay – in shape.
