Sole F85 Treadmill Review

November 13th, 2012 No comments

The Sole F85 is the top-of-the-line in Sole’s unique series of folding treadmills and will offer a serious workout for experienced runners, joggers and power walkers alike.

The F85 is seriously well built. Sole has been in the fitness industry for many decades and their machines are often found in commercial health clubs and hotel exercise rooms because their equipment is so durable.

All Sole’s treadmills are constructed from powder coated, 100% steel welded frames and have heavy duty inclines. The F85 has been improved by including an industrial 3.5 hp continuous duty motor. The all steel zinc coated flywheel offers an incline up to 15% and will run at 12 miles an hour.

This is a much heavier treadmill than other comparable brands. It gives runners a fluid motion that can only be found on more expensive equipment at a gym. Sole added their Cushion Flex deck which reduces impact on the knees, ankles, feet and spine by up to 40% compared to running on asphalt.

The console gives a vivid 9 inch LCD display on which you can track your workout progress. Information recorded includes time, speed, degree of incline, calories, pulse rate, pace and distance traveled.

To make your workouts more interesting there’s a jack for plugging in your iPod or MP3 player which is broadcast via a pair of quality integral speakers. To keep you cool there are two built-in fans. The F85’s features a handy message board system that gives information about the workouts you’re doing. It also has the ability of recapping your entire session so you can compare one with the next.

You also have two heart controlled workouts options which you can adjust to your individual requirements. It comes complete with a wireless chest monitor that claims to be 99.9% accurate.

Otherwise you can work your way through six challenging routines or you can customize two personalized programs.

The F85 has an extra wide deck measuring 22 x 60” and when you’re through working out you can fold it up and store it away.

Sole F85 Treadmill User Review:

I really wish I’d taken some notice when I ordered this treadmill about how darn heavy it is – 400 pounds! But it is built from high-quality steel with a heavy duty motor so I should have paid more attention.  Luckily a friend helped me in with it and we had it put together and running in less than an hour.

I shouldn’t have complained, this thing is rock solid. The Cushion Flex deck is super quiet and comfortable – I feel like I could run for hours on this thing without suffering. Being able to crank it up to 11 miles an hour really gives me an awesome cardio workout too.

This machine is just as good if not better than some I’ve used at the local gym. I also like the fact that you can fold it up to save some space when you’ve done exercising. I’m very pleased and the price was well within my budget.

Bottom Line:

The Sole F85 Treadmill is truly an excellent machine built from the best components that will probably outlast me!

Sole E55 Elliptical Trainer Review

November 1st, 2012 No comments

This is the third of our reviews on Sole trainers and covers the Sole E55 Elliptical Trainer.  The E25 has a flywheel weight of 19lbs, the E35’s flywheel is 25lbs and the more substantial E55 has a monster flywheel weighing in at 27lbs.

How does a heavier flywheel benefit you?  A better workout with a larger range of resistance – 20 total when using the superb Sole E55.

Sole is a very well-respected manufacturer of top-of-the-line sports and fitness equipment.  Their machines are the choice of many commercial health clubs and hotels. Yes, their machines are designed to withstand just about anything.

The E55 looks a lot like the E35 and has many of the latter’s features: a near silent drive system, high gear ratio and a power incline feature.  Everything is ergonomically engineered with the user in mind.

Workouts are fluid with typical low impact on joints for fast recovery.  Better still, Sole has unique designs for their adjustable pedals which incline slightly  - just 2 degrees – to make for better posture, and less stress on knees and ankles which eliminates that dead toe feeling you can get after a long, intense workout.

Ramp up your routine by adjusting from a flat plane up to 40 degrees and really feel the burn.  You can see everything that’s going on via the Sole E55’s console which displays distance, time, calories burned and pulse rate, among other critical data.

You will never get tired of working out on the E55. Vary your workout by targeting different core muscle groups with the incline feature and  6 programs. If you find two routines you like to do yourself, you can program those in too.

To make your workout easier, the Sole E55 comes with built in speakers.  Just plug in your iPod or MP3 player and exercise to your favorite workout music. A handy water bottle holder is inches away and a there’s a built-in fan to keep you cool.

Sole do extensive research before they build their machines and have thought of everything. You’ll be surprised at the price too – the Sole E55 is very affordable.  The best thing is it will last for years – it’s covered by one of the most comprehensive warranties in the industry.

With 20 levels of resistance, the incline feature and the ability to program in your own workouts, you will never get tired of this excellent machine.

Sole E55 Elliptical Trainer Features User Review

This machine was recommended to me by a neighbor who let me try his out a couple of times.  I was very impressed with how quiet it is and how many great features it has.  I used to work out at the gym but now I have the E55 I’m going to add a bench and weights and a couple of other things and my wife and I will never have do the long round trip every other day to the not-so-local gym.

With 20 levels of resistance I know this machine is going to be around for a long time. I’m only on level 4 and the incline feature is building my leg muscles fast.  We can both quickly adjust the footpads to the way we like them and with the variations in workouts it doesn’t take a second to get it set up before you start a routine. Our individual data is recorded and stored which is very handy too.

The only thing I wasn’t too aware of was the weight of this thing which is good because it doesn’t budge a centimeter while I use it but dragging it piece by piece down to the basement was a workout in itself. It weighs 200lbs and the base unit was a bugger to move by myself.

All in all we’re very glad we bought this machine.

Bottom line:

The Sole E55 Elliptical Trainer is a health-club quality machine that will keep you in shape for years to come and has all the bells and whistles.
